- New TSR program POPGDB.EXE
-
- The POPGDB.EXE program is a small TSR like GRAB but it does nothing more
- that allow you to pop up the GRABDB database program over other programs.
-
- This program must be configured before using it. It must be loaded after
- GRAB.EXE in order to use also. You can add it immediately after the GRAB
- line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file if you want it to load automatically.
-
- To configure POPGDB you will use the GRABCFG.EXE program just as though
- you are going to configure GRAB. However there are only two items that
- may be configured. One is the location of the GRABDB.EXE file. The
- default setting in the POPGDB program is:
-
- C:\GRABPLUS\GRABDB.EXE
-
- Note that it is the location that our installation program uses as a
- default when installing the GRAB Plus package. You must supply the full
- drive, path and file name for GRABDB.EXE as shown above.
-
- The second item is to change the default hot key for the POPGDB program.
- The default hot key is <Ctrl><Alt>F10 and you can change it to any
- combination just as GRAB's hot key.
-
- To configure POPGDB load the GRABCFG program. Select the "File" pull
- down menu (formerly called Exit) and select "get pOpgdb" from the pull
- down. This will read in the present configuration from POPGDB.EXE.
-
- Next to change the location of the GRABDB.EXE file if your's is not in
- the default directory as shown above. Select "Address & tsr" and then
- select "Location of grabdb.exe" from the pull down. Make your changes
- and press enter to exit the edit screen.
-
- To change the hot key for POPGDB, select "Hot key" and then select
- "pOpgdb hot key" from the pull down. Enter your new hot key and exit
- the hot key change window.
-
- Next you must save the changes as your default settings. This is done
- by selecting "Files" and "save pOpgdb" in the pull down. The changes will
- be written to the POPGDB.EXE file at this time. You can then exit the
- GRABCFG program and load POPGDB.EXE into memory for use.
-
- It should be pointed out that POPGDB cannot be used at the DOS prompt,
- you must be in another application to run it. This is normal as at the
- DOS prompt, you can simply run GRABDB without POPGDB. If you try to
- run POPGDB when at the DOS prompt or in a graphics screen, the program
- will beep to let you know it cannot pop up GRABDB for you.
-
- What's great about this new program is that you can be in your word
- processor, call POPGDB to find an address, pop up GRAB to print an
- envelope and then after exiting GRAB and GRABDB, paste the address in
- the word processor using the new paste function of GRAB.
-
- For a list of command line options such as removing PopGDB from memory
- type:
-
- POPGDB /?
-
- at the command line.
